Practice Round 1 (Steve)

Mini Rebuttal Redo Practice

Nice job of describing the two worlds, but make sure it doesn’t become too much.
2nd—better description, still you want more of the speech to be about making arguments than setting up to make them

Advocacy Drill Friday 8/8

--the perm is not net beneficial—still prevents thought policing sort of stuff
--make sure you explain that we can solve all of your impact arguments without risking the ethics questions
--transition by saying “on their solvency deficit” you don’t need to explain it anymore—medical research also disproves this claim right now in non stem-cell stuff
--tagline speaking “pacifies anti-choice protestors”

Practice Round 5 (steve)

Impact Drill--8/12

--really nice job with a lot of different impact arguments, bringint it all together
--make sure you really make the comparison using the things like timeframe and probability, explaining why this is particularly likely

--the turns the case argument is a nice way to start out, make sure you are still deciding which one is the most important and why, don’t just claim all the possible impact categories

Topicality Drill--8/13

--nice job starting off, don’t lose your confidence as you get further into the argument, you start trailing off and not sounding as strong
--make sure to impact your impact arguments—why does it matter if they are not fair or if they are less educational

Practice Debate 10—8/14 (Baxter)

--line by line this especially here, this could clearly be the most technical speech in the debate
--use your impact comparison skills here as well
--I’m not clear about your arguments towards the permutation, it does both right?
--show off to your judge, make the eye contact, project some confidence
